Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting isn’t a diet, but a diet program-changing up your metabolism hours. If done properly you can lose weight and maintain a healthy weight while losing fat and grow muscles. There are different time schedules you can follow to fit your schedule.

Here are some examples of what you can do

Most people take the route of eating for only 8 hours a day and fasting the other 16, which excludes either a breakfast or a dinner. Some take a higher approach which they will fast for an entire 24 hours. How does this boost your metabolism? Well, our bodies run on glucose, when we deplete it, our bodies look for other sources of energy in our case, body fat! Fatty acids produce ketones as a new source of energy for our bodies to run off of. This only works with fasting as we need to give our bodies time to make the shift.

Not only does intermittent fasting facilitate weight loss, but also promotes longer life, protects cognitive functions, enhances physical performance and reduces inflammation.

Before trying to fast, think about a plan that suits your lifestyle. Intermittent fasting is not starvation and needs to be done properly with the right amounts of food.
